Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga Classes

Salute to the Sun

In this energizing morning practice, we follow a flowing format of standing poses, balancing poses, forward bends, backward bends, twists, arm balances, hip openers, and inversions; finishing with deep relaxation and meditation. You’ll be moving smoothly from one pose to the next, as each segment of the class is linked by a Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar). Each class will vary slightly depending on the teacher, but all classes will follow a general structure to ensure that your overall experience is balanced and cohesive. Level 2-3

Hot Hatha

Our Hot hatha sequence is designed to create space, opening and strength in your body from head to toe. This class takes place in a heat room 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. There are more static postures in this practice so you can pause longer in holds, building endurance, strength and stamina. You will be guided into each posture helping you develop mindful awareness in every pose, as well as with each breath. Open level

Hatha Multi-Level

This Hatha yoga class puts equal emphasis on the mind and body. Deep breathing and meditative techniques teach you to focus your attention as you tune into the unique needs of your body. Slow and controlled postures combined with proper alignment and breathing technique provides a challenge for students of all abilities. Explore strength and flexibility as you learn to balance effort with surrender in each pose. This is a good class to learn basic asanas (postures) as well as how to use various props i.e. yoga blocks and straps modifying any posture to fit your needs. Level 1-2

Vinyasa Yoga Classes

Hot Vinyasa

Our Hot Vinyasa takes place in a heated room, 95-98 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a dynamic class that mobilizes and detoxifies your body. The flow part of the class comes from the natural transition from one pose to the next where your focus will be on connecting your movement to your breath. A sweet-dripping class leaving you challenged, refreshed and fulfilled. Level 2-3

Vin/Yin

This class is the perfect pairing of strength and release. Class will begin with the flow of Vinyasa and end with the slow, sweet holds of Yin yoga. You will experience a practice designed to align the body and mind.  This class uses props to assist in helping you to hold poses longer. During the long holds your muscles are encouraged to be strong or relax deeply. It’s a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Open Level

Vinyasa Strong

This heated class strengthens, balances and detoxifies your entire body and mind with challenging postures, connected with breath and a focus on the core.  Be prepared to improve concentration, patience and determination to reduce stress and improve mental clarity. You will be guided with love and support into more advanced postures (modifications always suggested) with creative sequencing with uplifting music to improve strength, flexibility and prevent injury.  Level 2-3

Vinyasa Express

This class is sequenced with the modern person in mind. With stress being the biggest cause of health issues today, this mid-day vinyasa flow incorporates meditation, breath work and mindful movement to help relieve tension, reduce anxiety and calm your nervous system. This class will leave you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and renewed with a combination of vinyasa, yin, and restorative yoga. Open level

Yin Yoga Classes

Yin (non-heated)

Yin classes involve long, luxurious holds in restorative forward bends, hip openers, and inversions. This is a slow practice of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues of your body. A Yin pose is one that is held for a long time – you will experience deep release in areas of the body that habitually hold tension and stress. Quietening of the mind is a focus of these classes, as you work toward meditation and deep relaxation. Open Level

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Classes

Modified Ashtanga

The physical ashtanga practice synchronizes breath, asana (postures) and drishti (gaze point) to create a dynamic, flowing sequence and build an internal heat. This powerful combination helps bring strength and stability to the body, purify the nervous system and calm the mind. In this class, you will work through a set sequence that combines breath and movement, known as “vinyasa” – this is what makes Ashtanga so dynamic. NOTE: If you are new to yoga, you might find this style of yoga practice challenging at first. The teacher will help you to work safely and provide modifications if needed. Level 1-2

Other Yoga Classes & Class Series

Advanced Practice

Our Advanced class was created to help cultivate your existing knowledge and explore a deeper yoga practice. Be prepared to meet new asanas and fresh transitions that will expand your awareness, physically and mentally. You will spend time exploring an element of yogic philosophy as well as developing your pranayama (breath work) and meditation practices. This class is not suitable for absolute beginners and ideally you will have a minimum of 1 year in your yoga practice. Level 3

Gentle Yoga and Meditation

This class begins with movement and gently guides students into a longer practice of meditation. You can expect to release stress and increase a calm, centered well-being by practicing asana to relax the body, followed by silent, seated meditation to calm and interiorize the mind. The class was designed to create a deeply nurturing experience and an opportunity for you to pause and reflect within your day. Prior asana and/or seated meditation experience helpful but not essential. Open Level

Beginner Foundations Series

These classes are offered once each quarter. They are recommended for those who are new to yoga. Each class has a thematic focus following a rolling four-week curriculum, which students can join whenever they like. In these beginners focused classes you’ll be exposed to all the techniques you’ll need to ensure a safe and healthy practice for years to come. You’ll discover ways to modify your practice so that it’s less strenuous, while cultivating a strong foundation aimed at setting you up for success as you move forward in your yoga practice. These classes are also great if you’re recovering from injury, returning to practice after a yoga sabbatical, or simply want to enjoy your practice with less intensity. Open Level

Pranayama (breathwork) Series

In Sanskrit, pranayama is the control and extension of your life force, but in yoga, it more practically refers to breath work. Research has shown that pranayama techniques help treat stress and asthma, improve lung function and autonomic functions (things like heart rate, digestion, and respiration) as well as manage pain, decrease stress and support a good night’s sleep. A specific pranayama practice will create deep relaxation in your body and mind by cultivating awareness of your breath and subtle energy. This class will be formatted for a longer series of classes starting in 2020. The focus will be on breathing for pain management and stress relief.
