get to know Shawn
yoga teacher
Shawn has practiced yoga for eight years following her retirement as a public school educator and administrator. Shawn is a proud graduate of the second cohort of the Shanti Teacher Training Program (AWESOME program) and received her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in April 2026. She also has a 30 hour certification in Trauma Informed Yoga. Shawn’s yoga journey has marked a positive shift in her life. Previously, she told herself, “Yoga will never work for you. Your body is not the body of a yogi.” As her practice began, she began to experience a serene calmness, a gentleness, a connection between mind and body, and mental clarity on and off the mat. Turns out, Yoga did work for her and it can work for you too! Believing that EVERYONE should have access to a Yoga practice that is unique to them, Shawn’s goal has been to create conditions for students to explore and find how Yoga can work for them on and off the mat. Students can expect to use various props (including a chair) to access poses in the safest, strongest, most flexible, and aligned way possible. There will be intentional movement with a focus on connecting breath to all movement. Breath is your superpower! You will learn how your own body works and how to support it in the best way for you. It can change your life!!! When Shawn isn’t teaching/practicing Yoga, you can find her tending her flower gardens/ indoor plants, in front of a good book, having meaningful conversations with her friends and loving patio time in the summer. She cherishes time with her adult son Taylor and her husband Jim.
